Workers at a ferry terminal in Scotland found this seal in a parking lot on a stormy night last weekend. They tried to get him back into the water, but the reluctant creature was having none of it.

The next morning the workers called the SPCA. While they waited for the SPCA to arrive, one of the ferry workers picked up the seal pup and put him in the boot of his car for safekeeping, but somehow the pup managed to break out and was found hanging out on the dashboard.
Smartie, as they named him, is now recovering from his adventure at the National Wildlife Rescue Centre.

A female Nothern saw-whet owl at the University of Minnesota Raptor Center’s clinic is wrapped in a specially designed wrap to make it easier to weigh her.

Since the beginning of October 2012, the clinic has admitted 15 Northern saw-whet owls. The majority of them suffered traumatic injuries from colliding with objects such as windows. Head and internal trauma were common injuries, but the bird pictured here suffered from a fractured pelvis. This adult female saw-whet was a restless patient, but after about two weeks of cage rest and one week of exercise, her energies were once again put into surviving life in the wild.

This is Raymond, an orphaned koala that was found abandoned beside a road in Brisbane, Australia. He was named after the man who found him.
Caretakers feared that Raymond wouldn’t survive because he weighed so little and wouldn’t feed properly.
Julie Zyzniewski, who is looking after him, says: “He had to be coaxed to feed. He was frail and his future was uncertain. Suddenly, one day he decided life wasn’t so bad and he has been absolutely powering along ever since…”
Raymond now sits at Julie’s desk all day and is fed by a bottle every 3 hours.
