Dear Deployment,

You stress me out to no end I think you really suck. I just thank god you don’t come as often as my monthly friend does. How does one actually prepare for you? Personally, I’m never prepared to be separated from the love of my life. You’re just not fair. You get to have him for months at a time and I have to sit by the phone waiting for a call or raise to the mailbox hoping there is a letter. You really limit my communication and, frankly, it blows. I just hope you’re happy.

P.S. I want him back!

“You never get used to it. You just get through it.” – Army Wives

The first day after your deployment is the hardest, the second day is easier knowing my wait is two days shorter.

Looking forward to when we can talk again, however and wherever we go about it.

I can’t count the number of times I want to ask you to give up your job, but I know that doing so is like asking you to give up something you love, and I would never ask you to give up on us.

I sometimes imagine you with long hair and in jeans and T-shirt instead of that military cut and uniform but the impact is just not the same. Nothing makes my heart race faster than seeing you in uniform.

I’d say the true test of a woman’s strength is staying sane while taking care of her family all by yourself, crazy kids and all, because her husband has to take care and protect her, them, and everyone else.

Cute Military QuotesSome women chose to be a mother. Some women chose to serve in the military. My mother chose both but had to sacrifice one for the other. You’re still the best mother for me, mom.

You know you have a parent in the military if you associate the word drill with commands instead of a power tool.

I can’t wait for the day to come when you finally hang your uniform and we can all say goodbye to deployment but, until then, I’ll stand by you, support you, and love you the way I know how.

Deployment sucks! There’s no other way to put it.

I knew what I was getting into when I started a relationship with a soldier. But I’m still allowed to whine and complain, right?

You know you’re with a military man if you go from happy to sad in a matter of minutes, especially after a phone or video call. Happy because you finally got to talking. Sad because most of the 5 minutes were bad reception and frozen feed. Story of my life.

I dreamt of a knight in shining armor. I got a man in uniform. Reality is unlike the fairytale but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

You’re a strong woman. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You married a soldier, after all.

Our calls maybe short and far in between, but they’re still the best time of any day for me.
